Patent Attorney, also called Patent Agent is techno legal expert, Indian government mandates to pass the Patent Agent Examination conducted through its Ministry of Commerce to maintain the professional integrity. Any graduate belongs from science and technical field can apply to this examination, after successfully obtained the necessary qualification, can work as registered patent agent under the Indian Patent act 1970.
Major role played by patent agent to prepare the patent application in line with statute, filing and drafting of specifications, compilations of documents, to respond the objections raised by patent office, representing the client at court proceedings in litigations, technical and legal advisor to the applicant. Patent Agents can work independently through own firms or to work for IP firms or to work at IP cell of many Research and Development cells ofIndustry.
